Hello and Happy Birthday, July Babies!
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Ruby!
Here are five FUN facts about the gemstone, Ruby:
1. There’s no Place like Home! You know we can’t talk about Rubies without talking about Dorothy’s red slippers! Did you know that in the original novel, the slippers were silver? Yep! For the 1939 film, they changed them to Ruby red to take advantage of the (then new) Technicolor film process! There’s no place like home! There’s no place like home! 2. Jessica Simpson Said YES to Ruby! Jessica Simpson’s engagement ring is a huge (over 5 carats!) Ruby, flanked with two very nice sized white diamonds! Hubby also got a ruby in his custom wedding band to complement Jessica’s! While Jessica’s birthday is in July, the color red represents so much more to the couple! 3. The Liberty Bell Ruby…Largest Ruby Ever! The Liberty Bell Ruby was the largest mined in the world! Found in the 1950’s in east Africa, weighed four pounds, was 8500 carats and was sculpted into a mini Liberty Bell. It was valued at $2,000,000, until it was stolen! 4. The King of Gems! The Ruby, known for bestowing fortune, is the second hardest mineral…beat only by the diamond! Wow…fortune and brawn…I’m game! 5. You have what? ICE.com has a great selection of Ruby jewelry for every budget! Yes, even you!

You Tell Me: Would you enjoy a colored gemstone for an engagement ring? Are you more traditional? Or would you be thrilled no matter what?
Many gemstones are used for various uses such as construction tools with diamonds. Diamonds are the hardest of all substances therefore it has the ability to cut many materials. We just heard about another use of gemstones that appeals more to the female demographic rather than men’s tools. Actress Mila Kunis reportedly enjoyed a Ruby and Diamond facial!
Sounds weird, doesn’t it? The star splurged a whopping $7000 on this skin treatment to prep her look for her press tour for her new movie Friends with Benefits.
For those who are curious, the procedure is called the HD Diamond and Ruby Peel which uses rubies and diamonds as antioxidants for the skin leaving your skin with a natural glow. Mila has used this procedure in the past for the Golden Globes so she must have been happy with the results to splurge on it again. I think Mila is gorgeous with or without the pricey facial.
What do you think of this procedure? Do you think diamonds and rubies can actually help your skin?
Jessica Simpson and Kate Middleton both got engaged this week, and while you may think that the similarities between the two end there, the brides-to-be have one more thing in common – their colorful engagement rings! Continue reading →
Goodness! This February sure has been a rough weather month for many parts of the country. You may very well be reading this today from the comfort of you home and enjoying a “snow day” from work. Nothing warms the heart and soul like a thoughtful gift of jewelry for Valentine’s Day.
The one thing Jewelry and the you-know-what have in common is that they’ll always be the right size (although it is possible that your lady may think the gemstones and diamonds should be bigger!)
