Just in time for wedding season, this Friday sees the premiere of the new romantic comedy Something Borrowed starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Krasinski and Colin Egglesfield. It follows the twists and turns in the space between friendship and love and when those boundaries are tested.
The movie comes from the best selling novel by Emily Giffin. For those who have read the book & her follow-up Something Blue know that you are in for a hilarious tearjerker.
I’ve often said that there are few classier pieces of jewelry than a pair of diamond studs like the ones featured in the movie, they also happen to be Ice.com earrings.🙂 We’re thrilled to have our earrings in the movie, we also featured some other wedding jewelry inspired by the movie at Ice.com. Speaking about wedding jewelry, take a closer look at the photo of Kate’s engagement ring. Gorgeous!
I’m not getting married anytime soon, but some of the jewelry on that page is pretty tempting anyway. I think I may have to reinterpret the classic nuptial phase that inspired the movie:
Katy Perry has been known to wear some rather, shall we say, unorthodox things in the public eye. From the blue wig she sported recently to the cupcake bra she made famous in the video for her hit single California Girls, it seems like Perry can always be trusted to push the limits of fashion. However, she was all glam and traditional recently at the launch of her new perfume Purr at Douglas Shop in Cologne, Germany.
“Cologne” – the English word we use to mean fragrance – derives from the German city, which was the birthplace of “eau de Cologne” and still houses the Farina Fragrance Museum, so it’s no surprise that Perry was there to promote her new perfume.
But the normally flamboyant songstress was all class in a lavender gown, long, dark eyelashes and a pair of sparkling diamond earrings. Perry looked as elegant as ever with her shimmering jewelry and unique frock.

While accessories are often afterthoughts, they can also be the starting point of a great ensemble. When putting together an outfit for a night out, instead of heading to your closet, first check out your jewelry box.
"When I get dressed, I'll start with an accessory, then put a look together very quickly," jewelry designer Ranjana Khan told Marie Claire magazine. "You can't be afraid of big, bold pieces. Just don't think so much about it. Look in the mirror, and if you're happy with the end result, head out the door."
Don't be afraid of bold pieces, but stick to one if you're wearing a simple ensemble. It will keep your look balanced.
"Wear jewelry that can be seen from across the room, not just across the table," Khan advised in the publication. A great statement necklace looks striking with a basic black dress.
If you have a set of jewelry you adore, such as diamond earrings with a matching necklace, make sure your outfit will highlight the items. Wear short sleeves to showcase bracelets, and pin back your hair to draw attention to earrings.
In a few days it will be time to ring in the New Year. But well before the clock strikes midnight, you’ll want to make sure that you’re sporting the perfect jewelry to welcome 2011.
When dressing for a flashy event like a New Year’s Eve party, bigger is better. Add lots of flair with sparkling diamond earrings and a matching necklace. However, take your dress’ silhouette into consideration when selecting pieces. Your jewelry should enhance the cut, not interfere with it.
This is also the time to load up on the layers. Jazz up a cocktail dress with stacks of bangles or multiple necklaces. If you’re wearing a cool color, like cobalt, opt for silver. Gold pieces will complement warmer hues, such as aubergine.
Remember not to skimp on the shine, even if your dress already boasts sparkle. Ladies sporting a sequined outfit can maximize the glitz with a few bold cocktail rings or a great cuff bracelet.
It’s engagement season and plenty of hopeful brides-to-be are expecting very small packages under their Christmas trees, but single girls like diamonds too! Instead of waiting around for Mr. Right (or even Mr. Right Now!) to give them some bling, gals can treat themselves to sparkling accessories that will glitter as much as the best engagement rings around.
When selecting a ring, there are a wide range of cuts and styles available, so pick one that suits your tastes. Those looking for a classic sparkle can opt for a solitary, princess-cut stone set in a simple white gold band. Ladies who long for more flash may want to slip on a ring that features a large center stone and a band that is studded with additional diamonds.
If you’d feel funny wearing a diamond ring sans a fiancee, consider investing in a tennis bracelet. This glittering piece will make any girl feel like a princess – and with a blinged-out bracelet on her wrist, she certainly won’t need a prince on her arm!
Diamond stud earrings are another great item for single ladies who want to shine. The small stones are simple yet stunning, and offer a quick and easy way to make a sparkling statement.
Women couldn't make it through the day, let alone the year, without their best friends. So, when the holidays roll around, what should you get the ladies in your life?
Pearl stud earrings. A pair of simple stud earrings will last them for years but won't break the bank. Also, they make for an easy to way spice up any ensemble. Whether adding some flair to a casual weekend look, or being worn to a formal event, pearl earrings are a go-to accessory.
A smooth silver bracelet with a sweet and simple message engraved. Anyone can buy a gift and just hand it off, but adding a personal touch makes it truly special. A silver bracelet can be worn with anything, and every time your bff looks at it she'll think of you.
A charm bracelet with single charm. Each year you can add to the accessory with another meaningful keepsake. You can find charms that capture your bestie's personality, helping to truly make it a custom gift that comes from the heart.
Fall tends to be the season of non-stop charity events and galas. If you fancy yourself a fashionista, now’s the perfect time to break out the designer duds and show off your style. But when you’re heading to a charity bash, is piling on the bling a faux-pas? Continue reading →
This season, one of the hottest trends for brides-to-be is picking out two wedding dresses for your big day. Celebrities like such as Carrie Underwood have chosen to don an elaborate ball gown for their vows, then changed into a more casual number for the reception. Girls who want to embrace this fad can also switch up their jewelry. Conventional pieces may be ideal for walking down the aisle, but fun items might be more appropriate when you’re hitting the dance floor.
At the ceremony, brides could opt for items such as a classic set of pearls or diamond stud earrings. The traditional jewels will be appreciated, as wedding ceremonies are typically the most conservative portion of the event.
For the reception, change into flirty, trendier pieces like dangling chandelier earrings or large bold pendants. Look for modern and sophisticated styles that complement your dress and are comfortable to wear all night long.
A wedding is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so take advantage of the many style options available. Be sure to take two sets of pictures so you can remember both versions of your wedding-day ensemble.
The summer months were made for relaxation. Long weekends lying out on the beach, barbecues with friends and campfires under the stars are perfect ways to decompress. Shouldn’t your jewelry be as simple and effortless as your sun-filled days?
In the summer time, we suggest embracing a minimalist attitude toward jewelry that will allow you to easily accessorize all of your favorite warm-weather outfits.
Find a few classic investment pieces that will work with everything, and wear them everywhere you go.
A simple pearl necklace will take you from the office to cocktails or a backyard garden party without any extra fuss. And, the smooth and lustrous pearls will feel soft against your skin no matter how hot it gets outside.
A silver cuff bracelet is ideal for those who like to spend a lot of time in the great outdoors. It will look fine whether you’re camping, hiking, hanging poolside or at work.
A pair of diamond stud earrings is the perfect solution for women on-the-go in the summer. The ice will sparkle in the sunlight, glimmer at candlelit parties, and never become tangled in your windblown hair.
No matter which pieces you choose as your signature accessories, it’s important that you opt for items that match your overall style and will be comfortable for you to wear on a daily basis. By choosing simple jewelry that will work for every occasion, you’ll always feel elegant and appropriate in what you have on.
