The feather trend was picking up steadily last year but now a month into 2012 and fashionistas are flocking to grab onto this look. At first we saw many stars like Jessica Biel, Drew Barrymore, even Steven Tyler wearing feather pieces braided into their hair. The trend quickly moved to earrings and other feather jewelry. We also saw lots of feathers featured in gowns worn at the Golden Globes and People’s Choice Awards this month.
Ice has several new feather jewelry pieces that stand out from what you’re used to seeing. Typically you’ll notice people wearing actual feathers or imitation feather that often look cheap. Our designs replicate the beauty of feathers but with the use of red and white diamonds. I’m sure birds will appreciate us not plucking their feathers for jewelry and seeing their beauty shine through with diamonds.
I’d recommend wearing these pieces with earth tone clothing to compliment their natural color. Also, if you’re going to be wearing feather jewelry please refrain from pairing it with other feather clothing. The goal of this look shouldn’t be to look like an actual bird. So keep it to one feather piece per outfit.
What do you think of feather jewelry – will you wearing this trend?
With the first day of spring having sprung, and that extra hour of evening light since the time change, it feels like winters icy grip has started to loosen. Not a moment too soon if you ask me (or presumably anyone else who’s been on the Eastern seaboard this season). Before long, the ground will be bursting with crocuses, cherry blossoms will grace the tress and monarch butterflies will return from vacationing in Mexico.
Ok, ok, I might be getting a little ahead of myself. What can I say? Spring is exciting. One of my favorite parts of the season is that people start wearing more colors again, as if in an attempt to mirror nature, or perhaps to coax it out of hiding.
If the Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week is any indication, bold colors and bright hues are going to be really hot this year – oranges, pinks and electric blues showed up frequently, offset by dazzling whites.
While it may still feel too cold and gloomy to skip off to the park in a pink sundress, you can kickstart the season with some colorful jewels that’ll take you all the way into fall. I love this pair of vibrant purple amethyst studs and this citrine ring (it’s like a bouquet of daisies on your finger!). If you want to go super-colorful, check out this multi-gemstone cocktail ring. With topaz, peridot and amethyst it flashes, it dazzles, it catches that Spring sunlight and makes you smile.
What ever your style might be, now is the perfect time to start getting into the swing of things for this Spring.
Hats are huge! Bill Cunningham of the NYTimes is quoted as saying “there’s no question that fedora hats, being worn by men and women, is THE trend of the summer.”
They’re all over Manhattan and certainly coming to a street vendor near you. I’m loving this trend, it’s so….well…democratic. Young and old, man and woman, artist and worker, everyone looks hip in a fedora.
For those of us of the feminine persuasion, it raises the question: what kind of jewelry do you pair with a hat that has traditionally been worn by men?
My answer? Classic pearl studs. They pull a little more femininity into the look without distracting from the tomboy chic. It’s all about balance.
One great deal is this set of three pearl studs in white, pink and black to suit any mood or outfit. So slip on some pearls, strap up some sandals, flop that fedora on your head, and step out looking ultra hip with one of the most versatile trends we’ve seen all year.
