Celleste’s Vintage Glam Selections

Last month we announced our exciting partnership with singer/songwriter Celleste. Her music is featured in many of our product videos on Ice and now we’re thrilled to launch Celleste’s selection of Vintage Glam Jewelry.

Celleste chose her favorite jewelry pieces from Ice and I had a chance to chat with her about her selections.

Laura: What was the inspiration behind the pieces of jewelry in your collection?

Celleste: I chose these particular pieces because they represent me the best. I like vintage and natural looking jewelry in an array of colors set in leather and metal, but at the same time having a glamorous accent. I also like pieces which are more sophisticated, chic and feminine, as long as they have some sort of edge.

L: How would you describe your personal style?

C: I always mix vintage and modern just like my music which I like to call “Modern Classic Rock”. I really like a combination of fresh, new looks, but always with an old-school feeling.

L: We love the vintage look of some of the pieces you chose – how do you combine these pieces with a modern outfit?

C: You just dare to do it. Most of the pieces I picked can be worn with casual clothes like jeans or dressier outfits just the same. I think it’s not about what you wear the pieces with but how you wear them. Be confident and feel good about yourself, and I promise anything will work!

L: Being a performer, what kind of jewelry do you usually wear on stage?

C: On stage I go for more basic and light pieces since I’m very energetic. I’ve learned the hard way that jewelry can injure. Not the most practical thing when you’re jumping up and down. ; ) So I usually go more for bracelets like cuffs. I’m so used to wearing a few of them on each arm that I feel naked on stage if I don’t have them on. As for earrings, they have to be delicate and light, so I always wear studs.

L: Is there a piece from the collection that you would wear every day?

C: Absolutely! The first thing on my list would be the crystal smiley face leather bracelet. That bracelet was screaming my name. It’s totally ME! And it’s comfortable enough for me to have on all the time, on and off stage.

Smiley Bracelet, Flower Cuff, Black Diamond Studs

L: Which are your favorite pieces from this collection?

C: That’s a really tough one! I LOVE everything I chose, but I absolutely ADORE the smiley collection, especially the bracelet… I fell in love with it the second I saw it! It has a rock feel due to the leather, but still remains feminine. The whole collection is so cute and just makes me smile . Plus, all the pieces are very wearable both on and off stage.

Smokey Quartz ring (pictured right) – This ring really feels like an antique, I find it has lots of character, and really makes a statement. I love the craftsmanship and design, and especially the dark color. This is great when I don’t want too much glitter but still want to feel like a rock star.  : )

Stainless Steel Flower bracelet –  Daisies have always been my favorite flower, so I had to have this bracelet in the collection! This piece is just plain fun. It’s bright, colorful and has a great feel… can you say “groovy baby”?  : )

Black diamond studs – When it comes to earrings, I tend to keep it really simple. These studs are perfect for me – clean and straight to the point. I love the fact that black goes with everything, whether chic or casual. Like the Smokey ring, when I don’t feel like shining, these make a subtle and classy statement. And let’s not forget ladies, they’re still diamonds.

Yasmin Gow’s Yoga-Chic Jewelry

Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by jewelry. Some of my fondest memories are of me trying on my grandmother’s incredible collection of rhinestones, rings, bracelets and necklaces. To this day, my grandmother has such style when it comes to accessorizing. I draw inspiration from her, as I too like to add unique piece of jewelry to otherwise simple outfits. This includes yoga apparel. As a full-time yoga teacher, I wear tights and a tank top everyday, but the sporty athletic look is not for me. I glam up my typical teaching ensemble with a tailored jacket, some bangles, a great necklace and/or a pair of earrings and I’m good to go from yoga class to dinner with friends without a wardrobe change. My ‘yoga-chic’ selection offers some choices for women who, like me, consider jewelry wearable art, but don’t want it to interfere with their daily comings and goings.

The pieces I pulled together are not only beautiful and unique, but also easy to wear.

Here are some of my favorites:

Diamond and Rose Gold Bird Pendant: (pictured right) This piece best encapsulates what I have come to love about yoga as method of self-discovery. In so many ways, yoga has led me to a point where I feel like a bird sitting on the ledge of an open window: indescribably excited about the freedom in front of me, but also a little nervous about letting go and taking flight.

Sterling Silver Beads and Purple Silk Cord Bracelet

Lois Hill Silk Cord Bracelets: I chose several pieces from Lois Hill’s Jivasukha Collection. Not only is it yoga inspired, but her pieces are elegant and well made. I’m a big fan of these bracelets of sterling silver beads strung with colorful silk cord. I love that each bracelet has a different little charm on it as well. Personally, I would wear them all together, but they also look good separately. My favorite are the purple, orange and blue bracelets.

Multi-Gemstone Sterling Silver Bangle Set

Sterling silver gemstone bangles are also beautiful. They go with everything and they have such a pleasing sound to them. I have bangles on both wrists, so I would probably wear three of these on one wrist and two on the other, but of course, this set also looks great stacked together.

Studs: The color of the pink topaz studs is unbelievable. They are truly enchanting. Topaz happens to also be my birthstone in November, so I have a special affinity towards it, and pink topaz is really special. But if pink isn’t your color, I also selected a pair of square diamond studs, which I think are pretty cool, as well as these classic solitaire diamond stud earrings. (I should add here that Ice only sells conflict-free diamonds and sources its diamonds from vendors that comply with the Kimberly Process.)

I would love to hear your feedback on the entire collection, so please leave your comments below.

Namaste.

Wear The Nautical Look on Labor Day

The rule is you can’t wear white after Labor Day. We are total rule breakers and encourage you to break this rule BUT if you want to keep with tradition we respect that. Keep the Summer alive with this nautical themed Labor Day outfit. Whether your celebrating the long weekend with a getaway or BBQ with family and friends this outfit is perfect for either.

You can easily get the nautical look by putting on those white jeans one last time this year with a cute striped tank and navy blazer to instantly create the perfect nautical look.

Add a touch of color with your accessories. For this outfit I chose red wedges, sunglasses and a splash of ruby red nail polish. Ice recently launched a collection of cuff bracelets called Tattooed Steel, one of which I added in this Polyvore set that complemented to color palette of this outfit. Also included in this set is the popular London Blue Topaz studs, these are beautiful!

Would you wear this look? Do you have any special plans for the Labor Day long weekend?

Labor Day!
