Top 5 Oscar Jewelry Looks

Even with all the excitement the Fashion Weeks has brought recently, our favorite runway is the Oscars red carpet. Like most of you, I had my eyes glued to the TV last night watching all the beautiful stars strut down the red carpet. Here are our favorite jewelry looks of the night.

1. Choker Necklaces:  One of my favorite looks of the night was shockingly Michelle Williams. The adorable actress hasn’t been choosing the most exciting gowns recently but her coral Louis Vuitton dress with peplum detail was a knock-out! (Style Tip: Peplum waists are THE go-to look this Spring) She didn’t over do it with jewelry but chose a diamond choker necklace and a jeweled bow brooch pinned on her dress. I think a simple pair of diamond studs wouldn’t have hurt but she looks lovely! Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Katie Holmes also rocked the choker look. Get the look for less at Ice

2. Over-sized rings: The stars might not have worn huge necklaces or earrings at last night’s Oscars but they made up for it in the rings category. Ladies like their rings big! Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez and Stacey Keibler all wore statement rings that grabbed our attention.

3. Cuffs: The other over-sized look of the night went to cuff bracelets. Gwyneth Paltrow may have had an understated white gown but she still looked elegant and chic with the help of her cuff bracelet and cocktail ring. Viola Davis also paired a wide cuff with her emerald green gown.

4. Drop Earrings: I was expecting to see lots of chandelier earrings as we did at the Golden Globes but instead Hollywood’s beauties opted for drop earrings which are less dramatic but just as stunning. With drop earrings you have the opportunity to show off large diamonds or gemstones. Mila Jovovich, Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman all looked drop-dead gorgeous in their drop earrings.

5. Sapphires: For the last few years emeralds have been the most popular colored gemstone on the red carpet and it was definitely there this year too but we were thrilled to see sapphires growing in popularity. Another woman who sported the peplum style was the hilarious Tina Fey who opted for a navy blue Carolina Herrara gown. She accessorized this look with blue sapphire chandelier earrings similar to these topaz or tanzanite earrings. Leslie Mann also looks gorg in blue sapphire jewelry.

Get These Emmy Looks For Less

Yesterday we highlighted some of our favorite jewelry from the Emmy Awards. Some of you asked where you could get similar looks so we’re happy to help. We couldn’t help but notice these pieces of jewelry closely resembled some at Ice which we highlighted in the images below. Who doesn’t want to have red carpet worthy looks…at a fraction of the cost?

Floral Jewelry

One of the most attractive couples of the evening was Heidi Klum and her husband Seal. It’s always hard to predict what Heidi will show up wearing, her style is so diverse but she always looks incredible. Although her dress was quite the attention grabber, our eyes were drawn to the huge floral earrings and ring she wore. A much more affordable alternative if you want to achieve this look would be with our purple and white CZ earrings and matching ring from our Gallery 10 Collection.

Multi-Gemstone

The evening was held together by one woman….Jane Lynch. The Glee star was funny and entertaining without the crude controversial punch lines of many previous award show hosts. This is the type of host we’ve been waiting for. Normally, Jane Lynch isn’t a celeb we have our style eyes on but she was looking fab Sunday night changing into several gowns and jewelry.  (She even referenced the Spanx she was wearing…hilarious!) Her red carpet look was our favorite. She wore an eggplant colored strapless gown with multi-gemstone jewelry. Her earrings were a cluster of color similar to these multi-gem silver earrings.

Black Diamonds

In our previous post we mentioned some edgy pieces of jewelry that caught our eye. Gwyneth was one of the several women who wore black diamond jewelry and paired it with a sexy Emilio Pucci dress. She wore black diamond drop earrings that were surrounded by sparkly white diamonds. They bare a striking resemblance to our 2 carat black and white diamond earrings.

Cuff Bracelet

Sofia Vergara was an all around winner Sunday night. She was one of the best dressed, her show Modern Family won award after award and her jewelry was to die for. She wore huge Columbian emerald earrings creating a nice contrast with her coral gown. She also accessorized with a fabulous yellow gold cuff bracelet which looks a lot like one of my favorite cuffs at Ice.

Best Bling of the 2011 Emmy Awards

Just in time to get us excited for all the new shows premiering this week, the Modern Family Awards Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night. We all have our favorite TV shows but what was your favorite red carpet look? I’ll highlight our favorite dresses, etc in an upcoming post but right now I want to highlight the best jewelry looks.

Colorful Gems

The queens of TV are not afraid to go with bold colors. The biggest color of the night in dresses was red…but what about in jewelry? We saw a lot of emerald jewelry worn in many different styles but our favorite of the night was Sofia Vergara(pictured right). She proudly gushed over her Columbian emerald earrings. We also loved her large cuff bracelet but with earrings like that it didn’t get much attention.

Heidi Klum wore a large pair of colorful flower earrings and matching ring. Emmy’s host Jane Lynch wore a cluster of colorful multi-gemstones in a diamond shaped pair of earrings. With that array of colors, you can wear these earrings with many different outfits.

Classic Diamonds

Nothing like sparkly diamonds to complete an outfit. Lots of diamond jewelry graced the red carpet but there were some special pieces that really stood out. Kate Winslet who won an Emmy last night, paired her red dress with long diamond earrings that added just the right amount of sparkle to her outfit.

Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss looked fantastic in her champagne-hued embroidered Marchesa gown paired with chandelier earrings and a statement cocktail ring.

Edgy Accessories

Sure most of the women looked pretty and classy in their gowns and sparkly jewelry but we love when stars get a little edgy. Glee’s Dianna Agron showed her edgy side with dark spike earrings. Loved this look. Evan Rachel Wood kept up her bad girl image with a black cap-sleeve Elie Saab gown exposing her tattoos. She wore a dark think cuff bracelet for a rocker feel.

Nina Dobrev at the 2011 Emmy Awards

We also saw lots of black diamonds on stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Poehler and Emmy winner Julie Bowen. Both Gwyn and Julie’s earrings were paired with sparkly white diamonds to get a sexy contrast. I also loved Gwyneth’s layered black and white bracelets. Ice has a pair of similar Black diamond earrings as the ones she wore. What did you think of her midriff baring Pucci dress?

Best Look

The winner of the night in my books (and most of our Facebook fans) was another lady in red,  Nina Dobrev from Vampire diaries wore a vintage styled diamond choker necklace. She was colorful and classic yet edgy all at the same time. Va va voom!

Zac Posen Gets Our Emmy Vote

Have any of you been attending New York Fashion Week shows? Or following it on Twitter like me? I love all the excitement around all the latest fashion trends hitting the runways. It’s so much fun to see all the glamorous models and beautiful clothes and accessories. One designer I had my eye on was Zac Posen. I managed to get a glimpse of his 2012 Spring Collection and was drooling over the evening gowns that are totally red carpet worthy.

Since the Emmy Awards are this Sunday I thought it might be fun to pick a few of Zac Posen’s gowns and predict who might wear it on the Emmy red carpet. At last year’s Emmy’s Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks wore a feathery lavender Zac Posen gown that definitely turned heads.

Take a look at these gowns and tell us who you can image wearing it at the Emmy’s.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 - Zac Posen - Runway

This satin gown, with the combination of bold jewelry has a beautiful old Hollywood feel to it. Stunning. I can see this look on classy stars like Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl or Christina Applegate who will be staring in a new TV comedy Up All Night. Past Emmy winner Claire Danes would also shine in this gown.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 - Zac Posen - Runway

This curve-hugging dress has Kim Kardashian or Jennifer Lopez written all over it. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing someone like 30 Rock’s Jane Krakoski or Jennifer Love Hewitt in something like this to change it up.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 - Zac Posen - Runway

Even though this is technically a Spring collection, I think this shade of blue is so perfect for Fall. Especially paired with the blue jewels the model is wearing. Would look great paired with London Blue Topaz jewelry I hope someone walks the red carpet with it. I’m picturing some young starlets like Blake Lively or Lea Michelle of Glee. Perhaps even Eva Longoria, she looks ravishing in everything.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 - Zac Posen - RunwayLeave it to model Coco Rocha to deliver this show stopper gown. Isn’t it beautiful? You have to be a true star to wear something like this. I’d love to see Emmy nominees Gwyneth Paltrow or Kate Winslet in this or something similar. A nice cuff bracelet would complete this look.

What do you think of these gowns? Which stars do you predict will wear these looks?

Gwyneth Joins Twitter

Every Friday we like to highlight what’s going on in the social world of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blogosphere. The latest news that everyone’s excited about is Gwyneth Paltrow joined Twitter!

Her first tweet was a video of the actress welcoming herself to the 21st century by finally joining FB and Twitter. It’s about time but we’re happy she’s here. This switch to the social world is most likely an effort to promote her new blog GOOP where she talks about her favorite places to go, clothes to wear, food to eat and lots of other lifestyle tidbits.

She is definitely one of my favorites. Her chic fashion sense, glamorous jewels, love for food (she recently wrote a cookbook), enjoyable acting especially her comedic guest appearances in Glee are all part of why I love her. What are your favorite acting roles with Gwyneth Paltrow?

We’re looking forward to reading her tweets and don’t forget we’re on Twitter and Facebook too! Join us in the fun.

The 5 Most Talked About Earrings at the Oscars

The 83rd Academy Awards were held last night and we couldn’t be more excited to tune in to see all the glamorous fashion and jewelry. One piece of jewelry that we think shined the most were earrings. The Ice.com team discussed our favorite earrings this morning and some that we wish the starlets would have reconsidered.
Emeralds: Reese Witherspoon and Annette Bening both wore dark gowns with vibrant green emerald earrings. Reese’s Neil Lane emeralds were highlighted nicely with her high ponytail. Both Reese and Annette’s drop earrings closely resembled Angelina Jolie’s famous emeralds she wore to the Oscars in 2009. You can get the look for less with these green Amethyst drop earrings.
Colorful Gems: Gwyneth Paltrow was a favorite amongst many in her Calvin Klein silver sleek dress and colorful Louis Vuitton multi-gemstone earrings and brooch. We’re unsure of what the exact design is but the colors are gorgeous with her skin tone.
Dangle Earrings: The newly slimmed down Jennifer Hudson looked ravishing in her tangerine Versace gown. She paired it with long diamond dangle earrings that looked lightweight and comfortable. She was definitely a fan favorite of the night.
Tassles: The biggest jewelry surprise was probably Oscar award winning actress Natalie Portman’s maroon Tiffany & Co. tassel earrings. The consensus at the office is that they were a miss for us but a few of our Twitter followers disagreed that they were a hit. What do you think?
Disappointment of the night: Marisa Tomei is a favorite actress to many, including Lady Gaga who recently said she would want Marisa to play her in a movie of her life. We are not only disappointed in her choice of gown but I wonder, what was she thinking putting those earrings on? Would you wear these flower themed gemstone earrings?
Other honorable mentions were Mila Kunis’ diamond and platinum Neil Lane ribbon earrings, Jennifer Hudson’s long drop earrings and Oprah Winfrey’s fabulous diamond earrings.

Be Inspired by Country Strong

A horseshoe necklace with a sprinkling of diamonds combines the simple and the flashy elements of Nashville-inspired style. With Oscar season approaching, much of the Awards Show buzz has centered around Country Strong, a film starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Leighton Meester. Women can prepare for the movie’s nationwide release on January 7 by sporting country-western themed jewelry.

Whether you choose a casual or glamorous approach, experts insist that you execute the look with precision and authority.

“The country look these days is very put together – not a hair or a lash out of place,” Sherri Laurence, Country Strong’s head makeup artist, told Allure magazine.

Women can go all out or choose one charm or piece. A gold horseshoe pendant is a great way to subtly embrace a western style, and it’s versatile as well – the piece pairs just as perfectly with jeans and a t-shirt as it does with a more formal ensemble.

While simple gold items are great for gals who are ready to ride horseback, Nashville is also known for glitz and glam. Ladies looking to make a flashier statement can pile on the diamonds to rock this look on a big night out.
