Celebrity Stylist Brigitte Segura Picks Her Faves

We’re all fashion lovers at Ice so we were stoked to hear Brigitte Segura would be our newest Guest Curator. This Fashion Stylist, Blogger, Brand Strategist and Designer is the go-to gal for all things fashion. I had the chance to chat with the fashionista about her Modern Chic jewelry selections with Ice.

Laura: What was the inspiration behind the pieces of jewelry in your Modern Chic Collection?

Brigitte: The Runway is always an inspiration, it’s where things begin. I start with NYC shows then London, Milan and of course, Paris. Modern chic is my personal style. Sophisticated silhouettes on the body that are wearable and comfortable,  accessorized with fabulous details such as belts, shoes & jewelry. Jewelry is the hot accessory du jour. Bold is in!

L: There are lots of dark pieces in your collection, would you recommend these hues for the Spring/Summer months or should we reserve them for Fall/Winter instead?

B: Black is always in…even in the summer.  Any color can be worn with black and we all wear it! Color Blocking continues to trend, one of the easiest ways to color block is with black.  If done right, you can add a bold black necklace on a pink shift dress and go.  I’ve chosen several pieces that are grey, which is a wonderful accent for whites too in Spring/Summer and camels in Fall/Winter. Blue and purple are also must-have colors for Spring/Summer which you can include in your jewelry or where it in clothing and pair with these darker jewelry pieces.

L: Your collection is full of big & bold pieces. Is this a trend you noticed at New York Fashion Week?

B: Definitely! The standout trends on the runways all over the world are statement necklaces, big bracelets and bold rings. Designers like Marni, Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel are just a few showing off bold pieces.

For 2012, it’s no longer about what bag you have, it’s all about shoes and jewelry.  With shoes being so expensive and can sometimes look too much, jewelry is the easiest way to refresh and complete a look.  Plus, you’ll wear them for many years.

L: What are your favorite pieces in your collection?

B: I love every piece in my collection. The necklaces are my top pick. Layering them together or over collared shirts is a fun way to wear them.

Stacking bangle bracelets such as the heart cable bracelets is great. Add an extra bangle or two in between for more drama. Big cuff bracelets are strong statement pieces. They work well with sleeveless dresses or tops.

Big rings an everyday must now! Don’t save them  just for nights out. Wear them everywhere but don’t over-do it with more than one bold ring at a time. If you must wear more mix it up with smaller rings. Add the skull ring with a white button down shirt and short and you’re now fashioned hip for summer!

NY Fashion Week: Jewelry From The Front Row

Mariana Leung, AKA Ms. FABulous.com, has been busy attending the hottest fashion shows at New York Fashion Week. She’s the latest Ice Guest Stylist, and this designer/fashion blogger is here to report back all the latest trends and share her jewelry selections inspired by NYFW.

Twice a year, New York’s fashionable elite flock to venues all over the city to experience the styles of the upcoming season.  I was deeply entrenched in the photographer’s pit shooting almost forty runway shows for my blog, Ms. FABulous.  I created this jewelry selection around three top trends I observed from NY Fashion week.

1. Bold Color
In the fashion shows of Anna Sui and Catherine Malandrino, I found bright colors in circles and teardrop motifs as a running theme.  They could be in a fabric print, embroidery or framed semi-precious stones.  The green onyx bangle and the blue onyx drop earrings embody this trend perfectly.  The intense color and shape of the stones are right on-trend with the runway looks.  These items are also an easy way to update your existing wardrobe for the upcoming season.  Pair these statement pieces with a little black dress or your favorite jeans.

2. Vintage Glamour
In evening wear, I saw the vintage glamour of the 1930’s and 1940’s grace the catwalk.  I chose the multi-strand black spinel necklace and the red jade beaded necklace because they emulate the color palette and drama of designer Zang Toi’s fashion presentation.  Faceted beads can be worn hanging off your shoulders as a choker to highlight your décolletage.  Ruby lips and classic Hollywood styling are ideal to show off these stunning pieces.

3. Chandelier Earrings
The single biggest jewelry trend was the chandelier earring.  In diamonds, crystals or colored gems, elaborate drops were the go-to item for major fashion impact.  Designers like wild child Betsey Johnson to the red carpet elegance of Tadashi Shoji all featured dangling jewels from the ears of their models.  The diamond drop earrings in the Ms. FABulous collection are the perfect piece for this trend.  They add lots of sparkle and luxury to the most casual of outfits.  Pair the earrings with a dazzling ring for a truly extravagant look.

You can rock your personal runway with attitude in any of these jewelry pieces.  In the words of Project Runway’s Tim Gunn, make it work!

And the Next Ice Guest Stylist is… Katie Sanchez

Katie Sanchez is the mommy-blogger who recently won  our competition to be the next Ice Guest Stylist. She’s here is to discuss her winning Colorful Jewelry Collection.

Growing up, my jewelry collection was pretty boring. I went through a gold phase and then got into silver and platinum jewelry. I always kept it pretty simple, wearing diamond studs everyday. No extra color. Silver goes with everything, right? Well, sort of. In recent years, I have learned to love color.

I love to see how color can turn something plain into something beautiful. I love how just a little colorful accent can completely change an outfit. Often I’ll wear greys, browns or blacks and add in a bright necklace or bracelet to draw just enough attention. Color can be a confidence booster. I could hide behind my silver chain and diamond studs and blend in with everyone, or I could chance the attention that bright color brings. Who doesn’t love getting compliments on how they look?

That’s what my collection is about. Maybe it’s the amethyst pendant that draws out the purple tones in your blue eyes, or the ruby bracelet with a little black dress. It’s that little pop of color that doesn’t overwhelm, but makes a statement. Here are some of my absolute favorites from my collection.

Pink & White Sapphire Ring (pictured right): This pink ring is one of my favorite pieces that Ice sells. I love pink! Deep down, I’m very much a girly girl. Throw in this daisy bracelet and they’re two fun and casual pieces that go well with jeans and a t-shirt.

Gemstone Tennis Bracelets

I love the tennis bracelets in my collection (pictured above). I can visualize them being worn together with a bright top, or separately with a more formal outfit. This colored tennis bracelet and multi-gemstone ring (pictured below) would work well with a solid colored suit or dress to show your whimsical side even in a business setting.

Multi-Color Gemstone Ring and Bracelet

If there’s one thing I could emphasize with my collection, it’s that colorful jewelry can bring life to plain outfits and help your personality shine through, even in business attire. All of the pieces in the collection transition well from day to night and from casual to formal. They all have a personality of their own!

Laura Cheadle’s Boho-Chic Jewelry

Laura Cheadle is our newest Guest Stylist at Ice. This singer-songwriter has shared a stage with The Jonas Brothers, Sister Hazel & Spin Doctors to name a few. Here she is to discuss her Boho-Chic jewelry pieces.

I was raised by a musician father and an equally creative mother, my style has always been, what I like to describe as “Bohemian, Hippie Chic”. I still love to look elegant but I also adore those punches of color and really interesting designs. With Ice, I was able to easily find so many amazing pieces that pulled my style together perfectly!

Here are some of my favorite pieces from my Boho-Chic Jewelry Selections.

Shamballa Bracelet (pictured right) instantly grabbed my attention. This bracelet is the epitome of me as a performer in my element with the guitar in my hand and microphone in front of me.  I can close my eyes and picture myself on stage, wearing this bracelet with the spotlight shining on me and telling stories to the audience about my music.

Laura Cheadle Dangle Earrings

Multi-Gemstone Dangle Earrings: If you’ve ever met me, you’ll know immediately that I LOVE, LONG COLORFUL EARRINGS! I’ve always been drawn to multi-colored jewelry. I feel like it really boosts your look! I love to tell jokes and laugh on stage and I feel this really shows off my personality. I also can’t get enough of long dangling earrings and with my long hair and never ending dancing energy on stage, I feel these earrings are a perfect fit for me.

As a touring performer, I do many TV Appearances and one thing that a host never fails to comment on is the necklaces I wear. I wanted to choose a few that really fit my look:

Laura Cheadle Necklaces

Green Amethyst Pendant: There are many reasons why I chose this gorgeous pendant. My favorite color is green and my birth stone is Amethyst so those  are obvious reasons! With the Holidays approaching, this pendant would be a perfect gift (especially to yourself!) What is also unique about this piece is that I can wear it to a very upscale occasion or while on stage in an intimate concert setting.

Lois Hill necklace: This round granulated sterling silver necklace by designer Lois Hill is sexy yet subtle that will go with jeans or a dress. The design is a conversation starter and perfect for any media event I go on where I want to dress up different outfits.

Diamond Pisces Pendant: Not only am I a proud Pisces, but I feel like this necklace is very creative and artistic. I sing funky music and I could wear this necklace while I groove on stage.  Even though my sign is a Pisces, I’d easily wear the other sign pieces by Ice which are equally as cool!

I look forward to hearing what you think of my collection and hope you can wear these pieces and feel as great as I do!

Natalie Getz Jewelry Selections

Natalie Getz is our latest Celebrity Guest Stylist at Ice. You may know her from ABC’s ‘The Bachelor – Season 13′ , where she competed for Jason Mesnick’s heart, and as the winner of ‘The Bachelor Pad – Season 1′. These days she’s keeping busy as a Fashion Stylist, writer, TV personality with a new series coming this Spring. Natalie partnered with Ice to choose a collection of her favorite jewelry pieces.

Growing up, I was always a bit of a tomboy, but absolutely loved fashion.  I never wore much jewelry, because it seemed as though the only jewelry offered was basic silver and gold. Now we have so many options in modern day jewelry and I am diving in with an interest in loud colors and artistic pieces like the ones in my Ice jewelry selections. I love the morganite and black diamond rose gold ring! (pictured right)

Cuff bracelets, bangles, beads and multi-colored jewelry are my style and I want to share some of my favorite pieces with you! The cuffs I have featured in my jewelry collection are of huge interest to me as they are such unique and artistic pieces.  They are original and stand out more than most cuffs.  The more cuffs and bangles around your wrists the better!

Cuff Bracelets

Don’t be afraid to wear casual jewelry with formal attire! If anything, it will show your original, playful side and express your personality beyond what you are wearing. Another huge trend I am a believer of is multi-colored jewelry. Reason being, you can wear the simplest of clothing and utilize colorful, playful jewelry as your statement piece to give your style a whole new look!

Multi-Colored Jewelry

I’m hoping you find the pieces I have featured in my Ice Jewelry Selections as helpful as I do when I’m having one of those, “I have nothing to wear” days.  Throw on a basic tee, skinny jeans and great pair of ankle boots and watch the outfit be taken to the next level by pairing it with some of these wonderful jewelry pieces!

Cheers and Happy Holidays!
