Weekly RoundUp: Halloween & Fan of the Week

What a fun week! All of us in the Ice office have been on a sugar high since Halloween and loving every minute of it. In this week’s roundup I’ll tell you all about Halloween, the jewelry our fans are raving about and our new fan of the week.

Halloween

I love Halloween so I was super excited to help organize the festivities in the office. We decorated the office with fun and somewhat gruesome props. I was thrilled to see my co-workers dress up for the day. Some of the awesome costumes were the lovely Kate Middleton including a homemade fascinator which I adored. Cleopatra was dazzling. A creepy crypt crawler. I was dressed as a 1920’s flapper girl. Loved dressing up in all the jewelry and feathers.

We asked our Facebook fans to post pictures of their Halloween costumes and we got some adorable pics of their children and some sexy pin-up girls. One of the most unique costumes we saw this Halloween was posted on our Facebook page. Stick people!!!!  LOVE this.

What did you dress up as for Halloween? We’d love to see pics.

What’s Your Style?

In last week’s What’s Your Style I made a selection of Halloween themed jewelry and asked our Facebook & Twitter community to tell us which one would they wear to get them in the Halloween mood. The top 3 pieces that got the most votes from our online community were:

1. Devil heart pendant with diamonds

2. Snake bracelet

3. Spider earrings with black & white diamonds (pictured right)

Congrats Melissa!

Fan of the Week

We often host many sweepstakes & giveaways throughout the year for our customers. This past summer we held the Hot Fun in the Summertime Sweepstakes and our winner Melissa Wetzler posted pictures of her prizes on our Facebook page this week. Congrats to Melissa on the win! She won a gorgeous pair of diamond stud earrings and a champagne & white diamond ring.

Spotted: Bold Crystal Jewelry on Gossip Girl

I have no shame in admitting I’m a sucker for watching Gossip Girl. It’s dramatic, funny, sexy and fashionable. Every character on the show has a top-notch wardrobe full of high-end designers. It’s incredibly fun to see what new outfits will appear in every scene. Main characters Serena and Blaire are the focus of the show played by Black Lively and Leighton Meester but Serena’s mother Lily often steals the spotlight with her classy yet sexy fashion sense. I recently came across this photo of the stars on the set of the show and couldn’t help but drool when I saw Lily’s necklace.

On the set of Gossip Girl
Kelly Rutherford wearing a gorgeous clear crystal necklace

Lily is played by Kelly Rutherford who I find has a very similar style on and off screen. Her necklace is draped with large clear crystals that kind of look like rocks. If you want to get a similar look, Ice has a very similar style crystal bracelet (pictured right) from our SNO of Sweden Collection.  It’s a large statement piece that will go with many outfits since the crystal chips are clear.

Would you wear large clear statement pieces like these?

Black Swarovski Bracelets

When I got a sneak peak of this black Swarovski crystal bracelet a couple of months ago I knew I had to have it. I anxiously waited for it to come in stock and now the time has come! I recently started adding several black bracelets to my expanding jewelry collection. It started with a black crystal bracelet from Ice, then I got the black glass bead SNO of Sweden bracelet.

I noticed several of Hollywood’s starlets donning black bracelets such as the lovely Amanda Seyfried so I must be on to something. This new bracelet is another black glass bead bracelet but this one has a cluster of white Swarovski crystals. It is SPARKLY! As is the other black bracelets I recently got.

What do you think of black jewelry? Do you have any?

Btw, if you’re not crazy about black jewelry, the Swarovski crystal bracelet I mentioned above is also available with purple glass beads.

Fashionable Halloween Costumes

So here’s the dilemma. Ice is having a Halloween party on Monday and I don’t have a costume! I need your help coming up with ideas. I’d love to keep it fashion focused or related to celebrities and pop culture. No Snooki suggestions please LOL.

Here are some fashionable costume ideas:

Kate Middleton including her famous sapphire engagement ring which we have at Ice. My lovely co-worker Tammy will be rocking this look on Monday, fascinator and all. Can’t wait to see it! (FYI, fascinators are those crazy hats the Brits wear at weddings)

Flapper Girl: 1920’s style bad girl adorned in long pearl necklaces, short hair, black stockings  & lots of feathers. This would be a fun idea and is the one that I’m seriously considering.

Marilyn Monroe: I do have an old pink bridesmaid dress I can wear with tons of Ice diamond jewelry to resemble the blond bombshell’s look in the movie Gentleman Prefer Blondes.

Kardashian Sisters: Slap on some animal print, super high heels, bronzer, large earrings and you can be any one of the K sisters.

What do you think of these costume ideas? Can you help me come up with something else?

Post your suggestions in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter.

New Stackable Rings

For jewelry lovers, it’s rare that one is enough. How often do you wear just one piece of jewelry at a time? Yes, there’s always a bold statement piece that doesn’t need any supporting jewels but chances are you want to wear multiple pieces together.  I LOVE the layered jewelry look. Don’t you? Stacking rings, bracelets and layering necklaces is guaranteed to grab attention…not to mention it saves you the time of choosing only 1 or 2 pieces to wear. Your jewelry wants to get out of the box and play with the others so why not stack them up with these new stackable rings at Ice.

Our latest stackable rings come in blue, pink & yellow sapphire as well as Tsavorite (pictured right). Have you heart of Tsavorite? It’s a beautiful green gemstone in the garnet family. I love the shape of these rings. They are sold individually so you can get just the colors you like and mix and match which ones you wear together to get many different looks.

If these rings aren’t your style, Ice has a wide assortment of colorful and sparkly stackable rings to choose from. Which colorful rings would you stack together?

Yasmin Gow’s Yoga-Chic Jewelry

Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by jewelry. Some of my fondest memories are of me trying on my grandmother’s incredible collection of rhinestones, rings, bracelets and necklaces. To this day, my grandmother has such style when it comes to accessorizing. I draw inspiration from her, as I too like to add unique piece of jewelry to otherwise simple outfits. This includes yoga apparel. As a full-time yoga teacher, I wear tights and a tank top everyday, but the sporty athletic look is not for me. I glam up my typical teaching ensemble with a tailored jacket, some bangles, a great necklace and/or a pair of earrings and I’m good to go from yoga class to dinner with friends without a wardrobe change. My ‘yoga-chic’ selection offers some choices for women who, like me, consider jewelry wearable art, but don’t want it to interfere with their daily comings and goings.

The pieces I pulled together are not only beautiful and unique, but also easy to wear.

Here are some of my favorites:

Diamond and Rose Gold Bird Pendant: (pictured right) This piece best encapsulates what I have come to love about yoga as method of self-discovery. In so many ways, yoga has led me to a point where I feel like a bird sitting on the ledge of an open window: indescribably excited about the freedom in front of me, but also a little nervous about letting go and taking flight.

Sterling Silver Beads and Purple Silk Cord Bracelet

Sterling Silver Beads and Orange Silk Cord Bracelet Faceted Sterling Silver Bead and Blue Silk Cord Bracelet

Lois Hill Silk Cord Bracelets: I chose several pieces from Lois Hill’s Jivasukha Collection. Not only is it yoga inspired, but her pieces are elegant and well made. I’m a big fan of these bracelets of sterling silver beads strung with colorful silk cord. I love that each bracelet has a different little charm on it as well. Personally, I would wear them all together, but they also look good separately. My favorite are the purple, orange and blue bracelets.

Multi-Gemstone Sterling Silver Bangle Set

Sterling silver gemstone bangles are also beautiful. They go with everything and they have such a pleasing sound to them. I have bangles on both wrists, so I would probably wear three of these on one wrist and two on the other, but of course, this set also looks great stacked together.

Studs: The color of the pink topaz studs is unbelievable. They are truly enchanting. Topaz happens to also be my birthstone in November, so I have a special affinity towards it, and pink topaz is really special. But if pink isn’t your color, I also selected a pair of square diamond studs, which I think are pretty cool, as well as these classic solitaire diamond stud earrings. (I should add here that Ice only sells conflict-free diamonds and sources its diamonds from vendors that comply with the Kimberly Process.)

I would love to hear your feedback on the entire collection, so please leave your comments below.

Namaste.

Fleur de Lys Jewelry

Are you familiar with the Fleur-de-Lys symbol? It’s a uniquely designed lily flower used as a symbol associated with French royalty. It’s been seen in countless coat of arms and flags for centuries. Today, people are often using it as a decorative design in home decor, fashion and now even in jewelry.

Ice has a few Fleur-de-Lys jewelry pieces that our customers are raving about. One of the latest colored diamond trends right now is green diamonds which are found in several of our newest Fleur-de-Lys pieces. Pictured right you’ll see a green and white diamond pendant featuring the beautiful symbol. If you’re looking for more of a statement piece then you’ll love this Fleur-de-Lys ring with green, white AND red diamonds. Love the little red diamond accents in this piece. It’s a wide ring that will instantly grab attention without being too flashy. Gorgeous!

If green diamonds are not your thing, maybe you’ll fall in love with black diamonds like I have. Take a look at this black & white diamond Fleur-de-Lys ring and this stunning black diamond pendant.

Would you wear the Fleur-de-Lys symbol? Next time, you put on this symbol and someone asks what it is, don’t forget to say Fleur-de-Lys with a French accent, it makes it more fun to wear. ; )

Ice Donates to Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every year,  Ice spreads the word about the disease and lends a helping hand. This year, we’re donating 10% of proceeds from our special Live Pink Collection of pink jewelry to the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC).

The NBCC has declared a deadline to end breast cancer, setting a  target of January 1, 2020. “This is not a new idea for us. Our mission for almost 20 years has been the eradication of breast cancer. For decades, we’ve been fighting cancer with hope. For decades the lives of our daughters, mothers, and friends have been in the hands of hope. It isn’t working. That’s why NBCC launched Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®, a call to action for policy makers, researchers, breast cancer advocates and other stakeholders to end the disease by January 1, 2020.  Today we have a strategic plan of action to achieve Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®.”

We’re proudly wearing pink throughout the month of October, and we hope you’ll join us.  Ice has a wide selection of pink jewelry from our Live Pink Collection that includes pink diamond stud earrings (pictured right), pink gold jewelry, pink sapphire jewelry & much more. When you place an order through the Live Pink Collection,  Ice will donate 10% of proceeds to NBCC.

And if you only do one thing, PLEASE be sure to get examined every year. Whether you do regular self-examination, clinical exam or a mammogram. It could save your life.

Colorful Gemstone Bracelets

Fall is filled with earth tone colors such as brown,  grey,  green, etc. but there’s always room to throw in some bright colors into the mix. Here’s a few of my favorite bracelets that will add an incredible boost of color to your outfit.

Topaz bracelet: It’s no doubt that blue topaz is one of our customer’s favorite gemstones and this bracelet alone made me a believer as to why so many women drool over this gem. The blue color is bright yet transparent and combined with silver makes this bracelet look a lot more pricey then it actually it is. See the bracelet for yourself. Very similar styles of this bracelet also come in purple amethyst, green amethyst and citrine.

Blue Topaz and diamond bracelet

Amber & Diamond Cuff: This orangy-yellow amber is more aligned with the traditional Fall colors we’re used to. I never really thought of amber in jewelry before I saw this piece and it’s matching amber necklace. It pleasantly surprised me how beautiful it was and I absolutely love the silver detail on this cuff bracelet.

Amber Diamond Cuff Bracelet

Amethyst, Topaz & Smokey Quartz (pictured right) is my new favorite bracelet. When I first put it on I didn’t want to take it off. I couldn’t stop staring at the gorgeous color combination of the blue topaz, purple amethyst and smokey quartz. Love it!
