You can’t flip through a magazine or walk in a store without seeing animal print. It’s always been in style but this Fall it is HUGE! Let’s be honest, most people have a love it or hate it feeling about this look. The ones that hate it usually think it’s tacky – which it can be if not done right, but I want to give you some pointers on how to pull off this look in a stylish and classy way.
1. Less is more: Choose one item of your outfit to be animal print. When you start adding more than one piece to the mix it starts to rise on the tacky-meter.
2. Don’t mix different animal print. Nobody wants to see you wear leopard, snakeskin and zebra print all in one look. Might as well just tattoo the word tacky on your forehead.
3. Wear ‘real’ animal print colors. When was the last time you saw a hot pink cheetah running around? Or a neon yellow tiger? Stay away from this Snooki-esque fashion disaster and stick with wearing natural colors found on your favorite animals. The only animal print that you might go a little color crazy with is snakeskin. Snakes come in an infinite amount of colors so that is my only exception like with these snakeskin bangles in green and orangy/brown.
4. Pair it with Black or Neutrals. Animal print always looks it’s best paired with an all black outfit. If you’re not an all-black kind of gal then mix colors in the palette of the print you’re wearing.
5. Accessorize in print. If you’re not feeling wild enough to wear a piece of clothing in animal print the easiest way is through your accessories. A good start is with a scarf or if you’re feeling a tad more daring opt for a sexy pump with your favorite animal print. A fun twist is to add prints to your jewelry collection – check out Ice’s animal print jewelry. This Cheetah print cuff bracelet (pictured right) is my preferred print choice.
How do you wear your animal print? Tell us in the comments below.

Fan of the Week
As I mentioned in a previous post, you could be chosen as our Facebook Fan of the Week just by posting on our wall. This week our Fan of the Week is Tonya Crain! Tonya posted not 1, not 2 but 3 photos on our Facebook page this week of all the Ice jewelry she recently received. She ordered the matching multi-gemstone earrings and pendant along with vibrant blue diamond and topaz ring.
Most Liked Product
Our Facebook fans heart’s are melting over this stunning blue sapphire & diamond heart ring. (pictured right) It was the most liked product over the last week with tons of fans forwarded the pic to their significant others as hints for upcoming gifts. No need to be subtle about what you want, go ahead and share these great jewelry finds.
Ladies of Ice
Yesterday some of the ladies who work at Ice, including myself received our new orders of jewelry from the SNO of Sweden collection. You should have seen the swarm of women running over to our desks to see what we got. It’s very clear…we’re all obsessed with this new collection. I personally got the Gray Glass Bead Bracelet which is super sparkly and perfect for a night out or in my case I’m going to wear it even with a t-shirt and jeans because I love it that much. I got another sparkly piece, the black glass bead bracelet which will go with anything and best of all you can layer it with other bracelets. Can you tell I like sparkly jewelry?
What’s great about the SNO of Sweden collection is there is something for everyone. One of my co-workers Elissa who has a very classic jewelry style got the seashell pearl bracelet and said “it’s very classic with an edge”. Tammy who is usually a minimalist in the jewelry department went with a long seashell pearl necklace that can also be worn shorter by doubling it. She didn’t waste any time and put it on right away.
I’m also showing off my morganite & diamond rose gold ring in the pic which I cannot stop staring at! (Not part of the SNO of Sweden collection but I still wanted to mention it since I love it)
As part of the recent Ice makeover, we’ve refreshed our approach to our product videos. We changed up the vibe of our new videos by pumping up the energy level and including improved product views of the jewelry… but the most exciting detail of our latest videos is the music! We’re featuring talented up-and-coming musicians in our videos and bringing their sounds to the Ice community.
We’re plugged in to the music scene to bring you emerging and critically-acclaimed artists before they steal the spotlight. To kick off our new videos, we’re featuring four amazingly talented acts in our newest videos:
Celleste: With her debut CD “Ready To Fly”, this singer/songwriter rocks beautiful melodies, elaborate instrumentation, catchy songs, and of course her unmistakable vocal prowess. Visit Celleste’s Website.
Sheli Stevens: “Bold”, “sensual”, “honest”, and “moving” are just some of the words which have been used to describe Sheli’s voice. With flavors of pop, folk, and rock, woven together into crafty pop gems. Listen to Sheli here.
Jason Karaban is an LA-based singer-songwriter who’s collaborated with the likes of Ani DiFranco and David Immergluck (Counting Crows).. This multi-talented musician plays guitar, bass, keyboards, piano, drums and did I mention he sings? Now that’s impressive! Check him out for yourself.
Frank Brown and Buzz Zeemer: This power pop rock band from Philadelphia is led by vocalist Frank Brown – a longtime fixture on the Philly music scene. See why we’re buzzing about this band – Listen here.
Yesterday we highlighted some of our favorite jewelry from the Emmy Awards. Some of you asked where you could get similar looks so we’re happy to help. We couldn’t help but notice these pieces of jewelry closely resembled some at Ice which we highlighted in the images below. Who doesn’t want to have red carpet worthy looks…at a fraction of the cost?
One of the most attractive couples of the evening was Heidi Klum and her husband Seal. It’s always hard to predict what Heidi will show up wearing, her style is so diverse but she always looks incredible. Although her dress was quite the attention grabber, our eyes were drawn to the huge floral earrings and ring she wore. A much more affordable alternative if you want to achieve this look would be with our purple and white CZ earrings and matching ring from our Gallery 10 Collection.
The evening was held together by one woman….Jane Lynch. The Glee star was funny and entertaining without the crude controversial punch lines of many previous award show hosts. This is the type of host we’ve been waiting for. Normally, Jane Lynch isn’t a celeb we have our style eyes on but she was looking fab Sunday night changing into several gowns and jewelry. (She even referenced the Spanx she was wearing…hilarious!) Her red carpet look was our favorite. She wore an eggplant colored strapless gown with multi-gemstone jewelry. Her earrings were a cluster of color similar to these multi-gem silver earrings.
In our previous post we mentioned some edgy pieces of jewelry that caught our eye. Gwyneth was one of the several women who wore black diamond jewelry and paired it with a sexy Emilio Pucci dress. She wore black diamond drop earrings that were surrounded by sparkly white diamonds. They bare a striking resemblance to our 2 carat black and white diamond earrings.
Gwyneth Paltrow in black diamond earrings
Sofia Vergara was an all around winner Sunday night. She was one of the best dressed, her show Modern Family won award after award and her jewelry was to die for. She wore huge Columbian emerald earrings creating a nice contrast with her coral gown. She also accessorized with a fabulous yellow gold cuff bracelet which looks a lot like one of my favorite cuffs at Ice.
Just in time to get us excited for all the new shows premiering this week, the Modern Family Awards Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night. We all have our favorite TV shows but what was your favorite red carpet look? I’ll highlight our favorite dresses, etc in an upcoming post but right now I want to highlight the best jewelry looks.
The queens of TV are not afraid to go with bold colors. The biggest color of the night in dresses was red…but what about in jewelry? We saw a lot of emerald jewelry worn in many different styles but our favorite of the night was Sofia Vergara(pictured right). She proudly gushed over her Columbian emerald earrings. We also loved her large cuff bracelet but with earrings like that it didn’t get much attention.
Heidi Klum wore a large pair of colorful flower earrings and matching ring. Emmy’s host Jane Lynch wore a cluster of colorful multi-gemstones in a diamond shaped pair of earrings. With that array of colors, you can wear these earrings with many different outfits.
Nothing like sparkly diamonds to complete an outfit. Lots of diamond jewelry graced the red carpet but there were some special pieces that really stood out. Kate Winslet who won an Emmy last night, paired her red dress with long diamond earrings that added just the right amount of sparkle to her outfit.
Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss looked fantastic in her champagne-hued embroidered Marchesa gown paired with chandelier earrings and a statement cocktail ring.
Sure most of the women looked pretty and classy in their gowns and sparkly jewelry but we love when stars get a little edgy. Glee’s Dianna Agron showed her edgy side with dark spike earrings. Loved this look. Evan Rachel Wood kept up her bad girl image with a black cap-sleeve Elie Saab gown exposing her tattoos. She wore a dark think cuff bracelet for a rocker feel.
We also saw lots of black diamonds on stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Poehler and Emmy winner Julie Bowen. Both Gwyn and Julie’s earrings were paired with sparkly white diamonds to get a sexy contrast. I also loved Gwyneth’s layered black and white bracelets. Ice has a pair of similar Black diamond earrings as the ones she wore. What did you think of her midriff baring Pucci dress?
The winner of the night in my books (and most of our Facebook fans) was another lady in red, Nina Dobrev from Vampire diaries wore a vintage styled diamond choker necklace. She was colorful and classic yet edgy all at the same time. Va va voom!

For once I will not do ALL the talking writing today. I’m going to let our Senior Buyer at Ice, Alyson Raynard, tell you what she chose for the Editor’s Picks section on Ice.
Alyson highlights four major jewelry trends to keep an eye on:
Pink Metals: “Rose gold and pink rhodium create a fresh new look for customers looking for something new and exciting to add to their jewelry wardrobe.” Not many people have rose gold in their jewelry collections YET so now’s the time to add it. It’s one of my favorite looks for Fall.
Animal Prints: “They never seem to go out of style. Here we’ve taken them to the next level by finding sterling silver jewelry covered with the classic printed patterns.” You can’t go through a magazine or store without seeing animal print these days. Not even a week goes by without one of the Kardashians wearing animal print. You should have at least 1-2 animal print pieces in your wardrobe or accessories this Fall. Since it never goes out of style you can wear the look for years to come.
Fall Colors: “Among the hot color trends this fall are bold blues, purples, orange and muted greens which we try to capture in a variety of looks.” Purple Amethyst and green diamond jewelry are really popular at Ice right now.
Black & White: “This remains a hot combo for Fall. Classic black and white always pair well together for that never miss hit.” With the popularity in black diamonds in recent years it’s been much more glamorous to wear black & white jewelry.
Have any of you been attending New York Fashion Week shows? Or following it on Twitter like me? I love all the excitement around all the latest fashion trends hitting the runways. It’s so much fun to see all the glamorous models and beautiful clothes and accessories. One designer I had my eye on was Zac Posen. I managed to get a glimpse of his 2012 Spring Collection and was drooling over the evening gowns that are totally red carpet worthy.
Since the Emmy Awards are this Sunday I thought it might be fun to pick a few of Zac Posen’s gowns and predict who might wear it on the Emmy red carpet. At last year’s Emmy’s Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks wore a feathery lavender Zac Posen gown that definitely turned heads.
Take a look at these gowns and tell us who you can image wearing it at the Emmy’s.
This satin gown, with the combination of bold jewelry has a beautiful old Hollywood feel to it. Stunning. I can see this look on classy stars like Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl or Christina Applegate who will be staring in a new TV comedy Up All Night. Past Emmy winner Claire Danes would also shine in this gown.
This curve-hugging dress has Kim Kardashian or Jennifer Lopez written all over it. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing someone like 30 Rock’s Jane Krakoski or Jennifer Love Hewitt in something like this to change it up.
Even though this is technically a Spring collection, I think this shade of blue is so perfect for Fall. Especially paired with the blue jewels the model is wearing. Would look great paired with London Blue Topaz jewelry I hope someone walks the red carpet with it. I’m picturing some young starlets like Blake Lively or Lea Michelle of Glee. Perhaps even Eva Longoria, she looks ravishing in everything.
Leave it to model Coco Rocha to deliver this show stopper gown. Isn’t it beautiful? You have to be a true star to wear something like this. I’d love to see Emmy nominees Gwyneth Paltrow or Kate Winslet in this or something similar. A nice cuff bracelet would complete this look.
What do you think of these gowns? Which stars do you predict will wear these looks?
I cannot contain my excitement for our latest collection of jewelry at Ice… SNÖ of Sweden! I LOVE every piece in this collection and I’m betting that most of you will find something you like too. This line is PERFECT for Fall and with a name like SNÖ how can it not be perfect for Winter too.
It’s designer is Lena Jonsson Näslund who had a vision of making affordable, but unique jewelry that could be worn by women of all ages and backgrounds, using materials provided by nature. Having grown up, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of northern Sweden, Lena says that being part of nature, the people around her and life itself are her main source of inspiration. Snö is the Swedish word for snow and celebrates the pure, white and crystal clear materials of the north.
The pieces found at Ice use semi-precious stones such as quartz, onyx, clear rock crystal, smoked crystals and seashell pearls in a variety of natural colors and shapes. We have over 20 pieces in the SNÖ of Sweden Collection but here are a couple of my favorites I wanted to share with you.
Seashell Pearl Silver Plated Multifunctional Necklace: As I’ve mentioned, I love long necklaces. These necklaces are gorgeous but what appeals to me even more is that they are multi-functional. You can take them apart to make shorter necklaces or bracelets. Love that! Almost all the SNÖ necklaces can be wrapped around twice for a layered look or have detachable parts.
Talk about a statement piece! This Smokey Quartz bracelet (pictured right) is big, bold and beautiful featuring a stylish wooden clasp. You can wear the bracelet with the clasp showing in the front or in the inside of your wrist for two different looks. Don’t you just love how versatile these pieces are?
Who will be the winner’s of Best Lead & Supporting Actress in a Comedy at next week’s Emmy Awards? We don’t know but we do know which nominees with be winners on the red carpet. We want to highlight some of our favorite funny females who always look fabulous to us…they also happen to be nominated for Emmy’s this year.
Tina Fey: Fashionable? Heck yes! Who would have thought Liz Lemon from 30 Rock would pull off such glamorous red carpet looks. We love Tina’s transformation over the years from a simple behind the scenes writer to a fabulously funny actress and fashionista. She’s been more daring recently with form fitting bright gowns with large diamond jewelry. Absolutely love her! Don’t you?
Laura Linney is nominated for her work in The Big C which she plays a mom trying to bring humor into dealing with having cancer. This natural beauty seems to always look so put together at any event she attends. I love that she’s often seen in the same jewelry like these leaf motif earrings pictured here. Shows how versatile jewelry is & that not all celebs need to borrow super expensive jewels for the red carpet. Props to you Laura!
Kristen Wiig: Probably my favorite female Saturday Night Live cast member ever. Hilarious! On SNL she is often wearing crazy outfits and playing outrageous characters so you don’t realize how lovely Kristen is underneath all that. When she hits major events she pulls off these super stylish looks so effortlessly. She really stands out in my opinion from other female comedians with both her style and humor.
Sofia Vargara: The bombshell of the group always looks sexy. This Modern Family actress is not afraid to wear rich bright colors. She always pairs these colors with sparkly jewels, most often in diamond earrings and cuff bracelets. The contrast of the colorful outfits, bright jewels and her dark skin makes for one hot combination. Modern Family is nominated for 17 Emmy’s! Hope they win a couple of them.
Betty White! Who doesn’t love this Golden Girl? 90 may be around the corner for Mrs. White but that hasn’t stopped her from putting on her best and hanging out with the youngsters. You can almost always see her in pearls and smile. She’s still making people laugh on her show Hot in Cleveland and movie roles such as The Proposal which I LOVED! Decades older than other nominees she still manages to get nominated for Emmy’s. Good job Betty!
Who are some of your favorite funny females? Tune into the Emmy’s this Sunday to see who will win!
