A blue diamond was sold for $6.4 million!Quick – how much would you pay for a gorgeous diamond? What if it were big, beautiful and – most importantly – blue?

According to the Agence France-Presse, a 5.16-carat blue diamond was recently sold at auction in Hong Kong for $6.4 million. That’s a hefty price tag – but we have to admit, it’s quite the stone!

“There have been a lot of new diamond buyers from mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and elsewhere in the region,” Terry Chu, deputy head of Sotheby’s jewelry department for China and Southeast Asia, told the news source.

The cost of this precious gem is making us faint! Would you believe that this diamond was not the most expensive one ever purchased?
According to the news outlet, a Hong Kong millionaire paid $10.5 million for a seven-carat blue diamond last year. And, a pink diamond was sold at an auction for $10.8 million last December.

Ok, most of us don’t have the cash to spend on such a beauty, but don’t be so blue! Diamonds of every shape and size are out there. Look long and hard enough and you’re bound to find the perfect one for your budget.ADNFCR-2807-ID-19726119-ADNFCR
